The Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec are, indeed, extraordinary. The movie is based on a series of graphic novels that are available in both English and French. This was the first I had heard of Adele and I am enchanted by this brave and determined young woman.
The live action feature is imaginative and entertaining for kids, teens and adults. It’s rated PG, so, parents, use your discretion. My adventurous kids would have thoroughly enjoyed it by 1st or 2nd grade.
The story is unique and is complex enough to hold the attention of adults. It’s similar to an Indiana Jones or Mummy adventure. Since the lead is a young female and it’s set in 1912, we get to experience this genre in a whole new way. Adele is a character that entertains and is someone we can look up to.
I enjoyed Adele Blanc-Sec. This is a movie that I’m happy to own, since I know it will be watched again and again. I’m hoping they’ll be making more movies about her further adventures.
