My family uses a ‘regular’ Chromecast to cast our phones, laptops and desktop computer screens to our TV. It’s an easy way to watch movies and videos on a big screen.
Now there is a new streaming device, Google Chromecast Audio. I’ve had fun trying it out and am very happy with it.
Chromecast Audio is similar to the original, but designed specifically for audio. With the device, you can stream music, podcasts, audio books and more directly to your speakers.
It uses WiFi, instead of bluetooth, so the device works even works with older speakers that don’t have bluetooth capabilities. This also means that the sound quality is higher, which is always a good thing.
Getting started with Chromecast Audio is easy. The device itself and instructions are simple. It’ll take a few minutes to get it set up with your WiFi the first time you use it. After it’s set up, using Chromecast Audio is a breeze to use with your phone, laptop or tablet.
Chromecast Audio allows me to stream my favorite music to my old speakers. The sound quality is crystal clear, since it’s powered by the cloud. It’s compatible with hundreds of audio apps, including Pandora, YouTube Music, Spotify and Google Play Music. Another fun feature is that I can group Chromecast Audio devices together and listen to the same music throughout my house on multiple speakers.
I am impressed and plan to have many hours of listening pleasure with Chromecast Audio.
