CBS 9JKL Set Visit
Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the 9JKL set at CBS in Studio City. The show just premiered in October and already has dedicated fans who can laugh with and relate to the characters and also the situations that they find themselves in.
Cast of 9JKL
The comedy is inspired by Mark Feuerstein’s real life living on the 9th floor of a New York apartment building. He, his parents and brother occupied apartments J, K and L. Hence, the show is named 9JKL. Also starring in the show are Linda Lavin as Judy, Elliott Gould as Harry and Matt Murray as Nick.
More of the cast of 9JKL
Additional stars are Albert Tsai as Ian, Liza Lapira as Eve and David Walton as Andrew. Each one seems perfectly suited to their role in the show, so the scenes come across as authentic.
Mark Feuerstein 9JKL Set
It isn’t just the story that was inspired by Mark Feuerstein’s real life. The furniture and decor were, as well.
Parents Living Room
In the parent’s apartment are actual photographs of Mark’s younger self and his other real family members.
Many of us can relate to the decor and little details like post-it notes on the outside of the refrigerator and an odd assortment of knick knacks that would have been collected over the years.
Mary Tyler Moore Stage
The stage at CBS where they are filming 9JKL was also used for The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970’s.
Roseanne Stage
Roseanne is another successful show that was filmed at the same stage. Perhaps, there will be a similar sign for 9JKL in a decade or so!
9JKL airs on CBS on Mondays 9:30-10 pm ET and PT. The show is great for adults who will relate to the show as a whole in addition to the little details they bring into each episode.
