Independent Documentary Film
Would you find it shocking, if a police force would Target Philadelphia by bombing a residential building here in the United States?
That is exactly what happened in 1985, which really wasn’t that long ago.
This documentary, which was written and directed by Sean Slater, is eye opening and thought provoking.
We learn what brought us to that moment in time and how it was a pivotal event in the militarization of our police forces.
Many of the underlying issues still exist today.
Additionally, that militarization continues to have repercussions as evidenced by current events.
It is important for all of us to understand history and, hopefully, actively work towards correcting the mistakes of our past and present.
Target Philadelphia is not rated, but is probably best for teens and adults.

Synopsis
In 1985, Philadelphia police bombed a residential building to end a standoff with Black militant group MOVE.
This set a new standard for institutional violence and the dehumanization of Black bodies.
This documentary explores the rise of police militarization within the contexts of Black nationalism and the systemic disenfranchisement that incubates movements like Black Lives Matter.
