Pet Rock: The Original by Gary Dahl
The classic Pet Rock is back, and this ridiculously brilliant toy is popular again thanks to Minions: The Rise of Gru.
Way back in 1975, the original Pet Rock arrived and instantly became the must have gift of the season.
They were selling out as people searched high and low to make sure they got one.
I wanted one so much and was sad that there wasn’t a Pet Rock waiting under the Christmas tree for me.
Fortunately, I helped my friends take care of theirs and still had fun crafting cute accessories for their pets.
Minions
It was fun to see Pet Rocks make an appearance in the latest Minions movie.
Otto, of course, fell instantly in love with an adorable Pet Rock with googly eyes.
Naturally, hilarity ensues and kids now know about the pets and want to have their own.
What Is It?
A Pet Rock is a smooth rock that comes in a little cardboard carrier box complete with air holes, so it can breathe.
It includes a hilarious pet care guidebook to help you take proper care of this pet that is a whole lot easier to care for than an actual live pet.
The rock is perfectly fine just relaxing in the box as is or you can get creative.
Add some googly eyes and a vibrantly colored wig, if you’d like.
Make a little leash for when you go out for walks or get it some other accessories.
Who Needs A Pet Rock?
Kids will love a silly Pet Rock, especially if they are Minions fans.
Adults will also enjoy the nostalgia of this classic gift that burst onto the scene decades ago.
They are a fun conversation piece that will make people laugh and smile.
Yes, they are a bit ridiculous, but they are oh so fun to give and receive.
