Daniel Silva has done it again! The English Girl is a number one best seller, just like many of his previous novels.
The English Girl stars a familiar character, Gabriel Allon, who I’ve gotten to know in previous novels including Portrait of a Spy. Gabriel is a master assassin, art restorer and spy. The novel is full of suspense, adventure and intrigue. There are plenty of twists and turns that make it hard to put the book down.
Once again, Daniel Silva has crafted a fictional tale that feels real and plausible. The adventure takes us to Marseilles, London and Moscow. Current world events and politics fit right into the story. It’s fiction, but I can almost imagine hearing about this on the news instead of in a book.

Synopsis: “Madeline Hart is a rising star in Britain’s governing party: beautiful, intelligent, driven by an impoverished childhood to succeed. But she is also a woman with a dark secret: she is the lover of Prime Minister Jonathan Lancaster. Somehow, her kidnappers have learned of the affair, and they intend to make the British leader pay dearly for his sins. Fearful of a scandal that will destroy his career, Lancaster decides to handle the matter privately rather than involve the British police. It is a risky gambit, not only for the prime minister but also for the operative who will conduct the search.”
