Sudan’s Official Academy Awards Submission
In this fascinating movie from Sudan, we see what happens to a boy and a mother, when a holy man proclaims ‘you will die at twenty.’
The mother had high hopes for her son and expected a blessing, but received the opposite.
Their belief that this was true altered both of their lives as they lived with the constant cloud of death in front of them.
It is interesting to see this unique coming of age story unfold and to wonder how we would react in that type of situation.
The film and acting are superb, so it is enjoyable to watch.

Synopsis
During her son’s naming ceremony, a holy man predicts that Sakina’s child will die at the age of 20.
Haunted by this prophecy, Sakina becomes overly protective of her son Muzamil, who grows up knowing about his fate.
As Muzamil escapes Sakina’s ever-watchful eye, he encounters friends, ideas and challenges that make him question his destiny.
