Drama on the Treacherous Roads of Donbass
Bad Roads weaves four short stories together and dramatizes the experience of women during wartime in Ukraine.
Many of us here in the United States didn’t know much about Ukraine until recently, but war and violence are not new to the people who live here.
The film is heartbreaking, but it is important for us to understand history and current events even when they are atrocious.
This movie is not rated, but is best for adults and older teens due to the violence.
It is a lot to take in, especially when you know the scenes are inspired by reality.
I’m glad I watched the movie and hope that peace will arrive and trauma will be healed.

Synopsis
Four short stories are set along the treacherous roads of Donbass, Ukraine during the war.
There are no safe spaces and no one can make sense of just what is going on.
Even as they are trapped in the chaos, some manage to wield authority over others.
Originally presented on stage at the Royal Court Theater in London and adapted powerfully by writer/director Natalya Vorozhbit, BAD ROADS presents a series of tension-packed vignettes, each built around a dangerous encounter on the byways of Eastern Ukraine.
