Hooray for Teen Beach Movie! This fun feature brings the musical, choreographed teen beach genre into 2013!
Yes, I am a “bit” beyond the target age group for this Disney movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am legitimately too young to have watched the original Frankie and Annette movies and others like them, but remember watching reruns on our little black and white TV. I always thought it would be fun to live in a world filled with beach parties, singing and dancing.
In Teen Beach Movie, the characters find themselves trapped inside a dorky and fabulous beach party movie. They have created a wonderful balance between mocking the genre and fully embracing it. This tactic works and the whole movie feels modern and fun even for those of you who may think it’s ridiculous for teenagers to suddenly break out in song and choreographed group dance moves.
Teen Beach Movie is full of fun. This is a family feature that kids will want to watch again and again as they sing and dance along!

Synopsis: “Teen Beach Movie,” part of the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise which introduced a generation to movie musicals, follows teen surfing sweethearts Brady and McKenzie, who together ride the last wave of summer, one that mysteriously takes them into a classic beach party movie, “Wet Side Story.” There, it’s surfers versus bikers for control of the beach hangout…and everyone spontaneously breaks into song and dance. Now, Brady and McKenzie must try to return to present day, but their lives may be changed forever when they inadvertently alter the movie’s romantic storyline — and the handsome leading man, surfer Tanner is falling for McKenzie while biker girl Lela is swooning for Brady.”
