The French have a well earned reputation for knowing a thing or two about fine food. French foodie culture has made it’s way into North American restaurants from fine dining establishments to casual bistros and everything in between.
The Farm to Table French Phrasebook by Victoria Mars is a wonderful guide that will help you navigate restaurants, grocery stores and the Farmer’s market with ease whether you are at home or traveling to Europe. It’s also interesting to read just for fun.
The small sized hard cover book is easy to toss in your bag to take it with you. There are informative tidbits and history to go along with the definitions and give you an understanding of the culture as you learn what specific words and phrases mean.
It’s organized well, so you can quickly find whatever it is you’re looking for. There are five sections on Eating The French Way, Grocery Shopping, Beverages, Traditional French Dishes and In The French Kitchen.
I enjoyed the book. It is a good reference tool to refer back to as needed. It would make a lovely gift for a foodie or traveler.
