Synopsis: Climb aboard a big balloon with Barney, Ben and Emma as they embark on a super-dee-duper world adventure! The friends visit everywhere they can imagine in this all-new movie! Together they encounter princesses and kings, musicians and magicians, puppeteers and artists across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. As the trio experiences new cultures and languages from around the world, Barney demonstrates the importance of the most universal language of all: friendship.
Barney is one of those shows that typically appeals to kids, but not so much to adults. It’s full of kid style silliness and expressive and exaggerated acting.
I will admit right here in public, that I actually enjoyed this Barney movie. Yes, it’s true.
Since this is a movie, there’s more of a storyline than the short episodes. It’s still totally appropriate for little ones, but has a bit more going on.
The focus on being adventurous and appreciating other cultures is fabulous. As preschool age children are beginning to venture out into the world for school and other activities, they may be overwhelmed by the new things they see. Barney and his friends help kids get excited about new things. They’ll help your kids realize that it’s fun to experience other cultures and meet people who are different.
The dvd has some fun bonus features. There are 2 games and mechanically minded kids will find it fascinating to learn how hot air balloons work.
