You’ll get drama, romance and thrills from start to finish, when you watch The Real Thing movie directed by Koji Fukada.

I previously enjoyed two of his other movies, Harmonium and A Girl Missing, but this one may be my favorite.

The Real Thing is adapted from a Japanese manga, which is the first time this director has created this type of movie.

It is just under 4 hours long.

Yes, 4 hours.

You may want to watch it in two parts or all at once, if time permits.

It isn’t filled with fluff to draw it out, but is enjoyable from all the way through.

Synopsis

After a floundering toy salesman rescues a beguiling woman whose car was stuck on the train tracks, she inadvertently whisks him into an epic series of misadventures that turn his life upside down.

While his once humdrum routine was already complicated by two female co-workers, he soon finds himself entrenched with gangsters, strange interlopers, kidnapping and other sundry crimes and misdemeanors.
