The Adventure Continues for Belle and Sebastian
Enjoy fantasy adventure and drama in Belle and Sebastian: The Adventure Continues, which is the second film in the family trilogy.
We often see books that are turned into TV shows and movies, but in this case it was the Belle and Sebastian French TV series that came first in 1965.
Then in 1966 the book based on the series was published and three movies followed in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
The movies are in English, so it’s easy for children to follow along and enjoy.
These films may prompt insightful observations and questions about history and how historical events impact individuals.
The story is set in the French Alps during the World War II German occupation, so it has historical context along with the fictional tale.
Sebastian is a boy who has been orphaned and taken in by grandfatherly Cesar and his niece Angelina, who secretly help Jewish exiles escape to Switzerland.
Belle is a beautiful beast of a dog who becomes Sebastian’s friend and protector.
Even though the movies were made not too long ago, they retain the charm and feel of 1960’s family adventure films.
This is a good choice to watch for family movie night at home.

Synopsis
