Picture Frame Craft with Hearts 🩷🤍❤️

Celebrate a loved one this Valentine’s Day by making this easy and adorable Valentine Frame Craft!
This project uses a paper picture frame base and is decorated with festive polymer confetti heart slices in red, pink, and white.
The craft is simple to make—no special skills are needed! Kids and adults alike can make these charming frames.
The finished craft looks fantastic, whether you choose to keep it to display a cherished photo or give it away as a heartfelt, handmade gift.
This is a wonderful way to personalize a picture, creating a lasting souvenir of the Valentine season!
Supply Focus: Polymer Confetti Hearts 💖
The polymer confetti heart slices are what give this frame its unique, textural, and festive look.
They are small, three-dimensional slices that add a cute pop of color.
What are Polymer Heart Slices?
- Versatile Material: These tiny, colorful slices are made from polymer clay and are often used in nail art, jewelry making, and even as a fun mix-in for homemade slime! They stick out slightly more than flat glitter or sequins.
- Color Selection: The frame uses a mix of red, pink, and white heart slices for a classic Valentine’s look. Other heart shapes and colors are available, allowing for easy customization.
Easy Assembly Tips and Techniques 🖌️
This frame craft is essentially a simple decoupage project, using school glue to attach the hearts.
Glue Application
- Thinning the Glue: For easier application, mix regular white school glue with a little bit of water in a small dish. This thins it out, allowing you to use a paintbrush to apply a smooth, even layer to the frame. (Alternatively, you can use Mod Podge).
- Working in Sections: It is best to work in small sections. Apply the thinned glue to a section of the frame, then immediately sprinkle the heart slices on top while the glue is wet and sticky. Gently pat them down to ensure good contact.
- Top Coat: After the initial glue sets, brush a final top coat of glue (or Mod Podge) over the hearts to seal them in place and give the frame a glossy, protected finish.
The Paper Frame Base
This craft uses a ready-to-use paper picture frame (sturdy cardboard).
These are typically inexpensive and often come in packs with twine and mini clothespins, which are used to hang the finished piece.
You can easily slip your photo in through the opening at the top.
Valentine Frame Craft Checklist ❤️📸
🖌️ Materials
- Paper Picture Frame (white or preferred color) 🖼️
- Mini Clothespin
- Polymer Confetti Hearts (red, pink, and white assortment)
- White School Glue and Water (or Mod Podge)
🥄 Tools
- Paintbrush
- Small Dish or Plate
📝 Instructions
- Prep Glue: Pour white school glue and a small amount of water into a dish and mix with a paintbrush to thin the glue out.
- Glue Frame Section: Use the paintbrush to paint a section of the paper frame with the thinned glue.
- Add Hearts: Sprinkle the polymer heart slices on top of the wet glue. Gently press down with your fingers to ensure they stick. Repeat this process, working in sections until the entire frame front is covered, leaving a small, flat area for the clip.
- Glue Clothespin: Glue heart slices to your mini clothespin as well.
- Seal: Once all the hearts are in place, let the frame dry completely. Then, paint a final top coat of the thinned glue (or Mod Podge) on top of the heart slices and let dry completely again.
- Display: Add your favorite photo to the frame and use the mini clothespin to attach it to twine or a light string for display!
