Get ready for an adorable holiday craft!

This Free Printable Santa Claus Craft is a fantastic addition to your seasonal décor, featuring a jolly Kris Kringle with fun, springy accordion legs and arms.

The printable PDF template makes this a simple activity for children and grandchildren.

This is a wonderful group project for little kids and big kids alike, perfect for a classroom activity or a family gathering. Simply download, print, cut, and assemble this cute character in a few easy steps.

The result is a simple paper craft that kids will be proud to have made and that you’ll be happy to put on display throughout the Christmas season!

Ho Ho Ho!

The Fun of Accordion Legs and Arms 🦵

The accordion fold technique is what makes this paper craft so special.

It transforms simple paper strips into dynamic, springy limbs that give Santa his unique, charming movement.

Mastering the Accordion Fold

  • Cutting Strips: You’ll need four strips of red paper (two for arms, two for legs), each cut about 2 inches wide.
  • The Fold: Starting at one end, fold the paper back and forth lengthwise, creating sharp creases. Aim for consistent folds to give the finished limb a balanced, springy look.
  • Attachment: Once folded, glue one end of the finished accordion strip to Santa’s body, leaving the rest to hang free and bounce!

Materials, Display, and Customization Tips 🎨

Use these tips to make the cutting and assembly process easier, and to ensure your Santa lasts all season long!

Prep and Printing Tips

  • Paper Choice: I suggest using cardstock or construction paper. Using cardstock is recommended, as the thicker paper helps Santa look good for a long time.
  • Pre-Cutting for Groups: If you are doing this craft with a large group of younger children, consider pre-cutting the pieces ahead of time to speed up the assembly process.

Personalizing Your Santa

  • Facial Details: Use the black marker for the eyes, but get creative with the cheeks! I like a pink crayon, but you can use glitter glue for a sparkling cheek effect or even small paper circles cut from pink construction paper.
  • Display: This Santa is perfect for adding into your regular home holiday decor 🎁

Printable Santa Claus Craft Checklist 🎅🏼

✂️Materials

  • Printable Template: Free 8-page PDF Santa template.
  • Colored Cardstock or Construction Paper: Red (3 sheets), White (2 sheets), Yellow (1 sheet), Black (1 sheet), Pink (1 sheet), and 1 Flesh Tone sheet. 🌈

  • Black Marker (for eyes).

🖌️ Supplies

  • Scissors ✂️

📝 Instructions

  1. Download and Print: Download the free printable 8-page Santa template. Print each of the pages onto the corresponding color of cardstock or paper listed on the page.
  2. Cut Components: Carefully cut out all the body and clothing pieces from the printed pages.
  3. Cut Accordions: Cut four **2-inch wide strips** of red paper for the arms and legs. Create a tight accordion fold in each strip, going back and forth lengthwise.
  4. Assemble Body: Glue the character body pieces together (head, hat, suit). Draw dots for the eyes with the black marker and add rosy cheeks with the pink crayon.
  5. Attach Limbs: Glue the accordion arms and legs to the appropriate spots on the assembled body.
  6. Display: Let the glue dry completely, and then find a perfect spot to display your cute, springy Santa craft!
